Construction & Design Market Overview
Construction & Design field has its own unique characteristics and requirements. Designers and architects want to create a specific ambience that brings to life a concept within a given space. Part of envisioning a design includes utilizing audiovisual elements such as screens, colors, lighting conditions, and the interplay between these elements. Magink's reflective technology and the "Digital Tile" concept offers architects and designers exciting new ways to create spaces that require video, still images, and data and provides a solution to issues caused by mixed lighting environments.
The digital display market currently consists of the following technologies: LCD screens, plasma screens, front and rear projection systems, and LED displays. Each of these technologies enables the designer and architect to show visual images and data, and each has its own attributes, advantages, and shortcomings.
All of these technologies, however, are light-emitting, and therefore compete with the ambient surrounding light. This, in turn, produces two distinct situations: during the day and at night. During the day, these technologies get “washed out”. At night they become too bright in comparison to the surrounding ambient light conditions, and therefore dominate their immediate surroundings and become the focal point of the designed environment. For many years, architects and designers have been looking for a digital display technology that would blend and enhance a given environment without dominating its surroundings; to look less like a TV display and more like an embedded digital surface that is part of a design area.
Magink's Modular Solution
When Magink chose to create a new type of digital display, one of its main considerations was to provide a display technology that creates a natural viewing experience that is “eye-friendly”, blending in smoothly with the surrounding environment and modular so that it fit different spaces. Magink’s revolutionary reflective digital display technology opens a new world of opportunities and design concepts for architects. They can now create large, embedded, interactive, morphing environments using Magink’s “digital tile” concept. Designers and architects are looking for the best possible combination of a display’s performance in Mixed Lighting Conditions (M.L.C), and Variable Viewing Distance (V.V.D). Magink's solution provides the best combination of attributes that designers and architects have been waiting for; The best possible performance in M.L.C and V.V.D.
